Kanti Chhapi obtained a Diploma in Architecture in 1979 and has enjoyed a continuous career of postgraduate experience with multi-disciplinary practices in London and the Midlands, specialising particularly in the areas of scheme inception, project guidance and projects with sensitive planning issues.

As an advocate of strong links between the profession and higher education, he has experience as a visiting tutor and part-time lecturer to the School of Architecture and the School of Design and Manufacture at De Montfort University. He has also sat on the RIBA Validation Panel for assessment of the architecture courses at De Montfort University.

Kanti is a Past President of the Leicestershire and Rutland Society of Architects and also a past member of the Conservation Advisory Panel to Leicester City Council Planning Department.

He has experience of judging on national design awards, including the AUDI Young Designer of the Year, RIBA East Midlands Architecture and Leicestershire ProCon awards.
